Our 11 Industry Groups
SMa members range from a spectrum of industries in both manufacturing and manufacturing-related sectors. To address each industry’s unique and specific needs and interests, member companies are categorised into 11 industry groups.
The 11 industry groups are:
- Automation Technology
The Automation Technology Industry Group (ATIG) was formed in June 2000 to assist and benefit companies in the automation sector. Through partnerships and collaborations with the government and other key stakeholders, members are informed of the latest technologies and business opportunities. - Building Products & Construction Materials
The Building Products & Construction Materials (BPCM) Industry Group promotes the sharing of business information and experiences among members in the building and construction materials industry by disseminating government legislation, enhancing networking opportunities and forming strategic alliances to help members achieve economies of scale. - Electrical, Electronics & Allied Industries
The Electrical, Electronics and Allied Industries (EEAI) Industry Group, as the largest IG due to the multifarious interests of its members, is divided into four Sub-Industry Groups (Sub-IGs). Each Sub-IG oversees the interests of its members in computing, telecommunications, IT, electrical and electronics products and industries supporting these businesses. - Fire Protection, Safety & Security
The Fire Protection, Safety and Security (FPSS) Industry Group helps members foster closer relationships with government agencies by drafting and reviewing safety standards, promoting best practices, conducting joint research and educating the public in fire safety, security and safety issues. Dialogues and seminars are staged to update members on the latest developments. - Energy & Chemicals
The Energy & Chemicals (E&C) Industry Group was established to represent and promote interests of the energy and chemicals industry. It serves members along the industry’s value chain which manufacture and trade petroleum products, industrial oils, gases, petrochemicals and speciality chemicals. The members also include companies providing supporting services such as logistics, repair & maintenance and provision of drilling machineries & equipments. - Food & Beverage
The Food & Beverage (F&B) Industry Group represents members on issues where collective representation is effective and desirable. It discusses key issues and provides vital information and networking opportunities for members in the F&B industry. It also promotes the local F&B retail industry and helps members regionalise and exploit new growth opportunities. - Life Sciences
The Biomedical industry is one of the pillars of Singapore’s manufacturing sector. The Life
Sciences (LS) Industry Group promotes and facilitates the growth of the pharmaceutical industry in Singapore. It discusses and comments on regulatory issues affecting the industry besides coordinating and undertaking studies to identify new products and market opportunities. - Lifestyle
The Lifestyle (LFS) Industry Group acts as the representative voice for the lifestyle industry, and its suppliers and customers. It is also active in promoting the Singapore lifestyle industries and services, both locally and internationally, through trade missions and exhibitions, and networking sessions. - Medical Technology
The Medical Technology (MT) Industry Group comprises leading MNCs and SMEs in the medical technology and supporting industries. It serves the industry and related organisations that manufactures medical devices, equipments instruments, diagnostics and implantables by providing a vital platform to protect and promote the interest of the industry, thereby benefiting its members. - Metal, Machinery & Engineering
The Metal, Machinery and Engineering (MME) Industry Group focuses its efforts on discussing salient issues, updating on market trends and providing networking opportunities to members via factory visits, talks by industry experts and social activities. - Packaging Council of Singapore
The Packaging Council of Singapore (PCS) Industry Group serves as a catalyst of growth for Singapore’s packaging industry. It fosters co-operation between local and foreign packaging related organisations, voices the industry’s view on environmental issues, updates on the latest trends and promotes product quality, environmental protection and consumer satisfaction.
